BATH GIRLS’ BASKETBALL CLUB

I.        NAME AND LOCATION

The name of the club shall be Bath Girls’ Basketball Club. Accepted subdivisions of the club are Bath Swish and Bath Blaze. The Bath Girls’ Basketball Club may use the letters, AAU so long as the club remains AAU sanctioned through the Niagara AAU Association. The Bath Girls’ Basketball Club is based in Bath, NY with practices held within a 25 mile radius of Bath, NY as needed.

II.      PURPOSE

The purpose of the club is to promote girls basketball at a higher level, and specifically promote girls basketball within the general Bath, NY area. Fundamentals and team play will be stressed in all practices and games. The club will play a regional schedule of tournaments from April through July.

III.     MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to all girls with a desire to play basketball at a higher level. There will be teams at different age divisions as the need arises. Each different age division will field one team of a maximum of 12 players. If more than 12 players express interest in one specific age level, there will be a tryout schedule arranged. If numbers at a specific age division are over 24, a second team at that age level will be considered if a certified coach can be found.

IV.     DUES

In order to protect the club, and to defray the costs associated with AAU membership, all participating athletes who practice with the team must be dues-paying members holding current AAU membership cards. Dues are payable at the first spring practice each year.

A.  The amount of dues shall be determined by the president after a tournament schedule is adopted and fees for uniforms are set. All members are expected to purchase, above base dues, an AAU membership card and purchase their own uniform. The base dues amount will be based on the cost of the tournaments for each age division divided by the number of players. Any hotel or meal expenses will be the sole responsibility of the member and/or their parents.

B.  All members of the club are required to attend and work at all club-sponsored activities unless excused by the president.

V.      FUND RAISING AND FUND DISTRIBUTION

Additional funds, over and above yearly membership dues, are a necessary requirement for the club to operate successfully.

A.  The club shall have a minimum of one fund raising event per year. The fund raising events will vary each year.

B.  Money raised by the club through any activity shall help: defray AAU club dues, facility costs, purchase club equipment, and be used for tournament entry fees.

VI.     ELECTIONS

At this time the club will have two officers, the President and Treasurer (see Appendix A). The President will also be the Head Coach of the advanced age division team. The president has the ability to designate other officers of the club as the need arises. The President and Treasurer will both have check signing authority for the club.

VII.    COMMITTEES

Committees for fund raising, age division determination, and tournament selection will be formed as needed. Members of these committees will be nominated by the club President.

VIII.   EXPULSION

A member may be expelled from the club when she participates in an activity determined detrimental to the club or the sport of basketball.
